Dear FDWDAC Members,
We are sad to share with you the news of the passing of Gail Van Ekeren. Many of you will recall that
she was the tremendously warm, loving person at the check-in table who greeted and reminded you to
sign into the monthly meeting.
Jane Asche, who visited with Gail the day before she passed away, shares that Gail expressed that day
how much the Federation had meant to her and that it had connected her with such meaningful
experiences to be a part of helping to elect great Democratic candidates. She went on to say, “This gave
me a great sense of purpose!” as she summoned up all the energy she possibly could to speak to Jane.
We will have copies of her life history at the August 8th monthly meeting this coming Tuesday. However,
we want to share with you the following two events which will memorialize her remarkable life.
- Memorial Gathering: Thursday, 4:00 PM, August 31 st at the Belton Bridge Center located at 1214 E. Madrid.
- Memorial Shabbat Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 2, at Chabad of Las Cruces (2907 East Idaho Avenue) followed by lunch.
